Well, here’s the long and short of it. Steve and I came home from church, ate lunch, and decided to take on the house! With our vibrant new dining room painted, the music room was looking as tired as my guitar skills. So, I painted the walls (Behr- Warm Muffin) and Steve pulled up the pug pee stained carpet (YES! FINALLY!) and then layed all new flooring to complete out the entire first floor.
We had a neighbor come over to help Steve move the piano out of the room…that was around 1:30…by 7:30pm we were calling him back over to help us move it back in. I think he threatened brute force if we told his wife that we could do all that work in such a short amount of time.
He was like “I just watched football all day.” No worries, Mike…Steve and I have more lazy days than not.
It’s amazing the transformation that has taken place in the past 2 weekends. It feels like we’ve settled into a new place. I certainly don’t know that we did anything to deserve such a warm home, but we are thankful for it and we hope that it will be more than a place for us to “hide away”. In fact, it worked out that we were able to share a meal with our dear friends The Eisenbergers last night…in our NEW dining room! We sat 4 adults and tres ninos (three of the cutest boys in the world) and it was so cool to finally make good use of that room. I guess we were having so much fun, that I forgot to actually take a picture of the guests…but there’s a couple of the table at least.
So all of you reading this…you’re invited! Come on up, come on by, and most importantly – Come on in!

It’s spring time! In case you weren’t aware, that means it’s baseball season.
Last weekend we got treated to free lunch, free ice cream, and a free Charlotte Knights baseball game with a, yes you guessed it, free fireworks show afterwards. Thanks to some people through Steve’s work, he was able to score 3 tickets for his “family.” Before you start jumping to conclusions, we adopted our friend Matt for the night since he was up for the weekend.

It was a lot of fun – the smell of the field, the breeze in the air, the sound of that one lunatic that will always sit behind you and talk to the umpire like HE should be the one getting paid to make bad calls… We had a good time.
Matt and I really enjoyed our FREE ice cream too! yummmmmmm
This past weekend I got to go to yet another baseball game. This time I was MUCH more interested in the team…particularly the pitcher. He was a real hunk!
Yep, that’s our very own Steve Frey, taking the mound. Steve’s picked up a new hobby for the season and joined an adult baseball league. You’ll find him most Saturdays either on the pitcher’s mound or first base. If any of you happen to be up here on a weekend this spring, we’ll treat you to a free game – Might even throw in an ice cream after.

Yesterday was Steve’s birthday – only 3 days after mine. In that 3 days we managed to buy a house, he flew my mom up from Florida, and he put together a great time to share a birthday meal with some friends, family, and unfortunate, now legless crabs.
Pictured below from somewhat left to right are Bryan and Janet, Jeff and Susan, Chad, Dina, Jarred, Taylor, Roger, Norma…and of course Steve and Maria…aka the birthday kids.
We all met up at the Red Lobster last night – a surprise to me – and had dinner. I don’t know about anyone else, but I REALLY enjoyed mine. I don’t think the crabs were as happy though.

Thanks so much to everyone who came out last night to celebrate Steve’s and my birthday.
Oh, and as for Our First House…we closed on Monday night on a house up in University City. We’ll be posting lots of pictures and info on that soon…so keep checking back!

This weekend we headed up to Black Mountain and then over to the Blue Ridge Parkway with our friends Susan and Jeff. It was nice to get over to see some of the reason why we chose this state. While walking around the Black Mountain village area we came across this bronze sign on the wall. Not only was it funny to read, but it’s a reminder to stop and appreciate every moment….even the ones that seem insignificant.
We also wanted to show a picture of us and our friends hanging out on the Blue Ridge Parkway…all five of us: Steve, Me, Jeff, Susan, and “Baby John Cougar Plueger” haha
