A break from our normal programming…

Published by Maria under Uncategorized

You may or may not have ever heard of Dave Ramsey. You may or may not care about Dave Ramsey. For Steve and I though, Dave Ramsey has a substantial part in our financial decisions, and the success of our marriage.

Throughout our college years, we got pretty good at learning how to use a credit card. We got good at spending money that we didn’t have, shuffling funds that hardly existed, and ultimately bringing on more stress to ourselves. Then we decided we’d get married. Consequently joining said funds and lack thereof, and also joining our views on how to manage our money.

I’m pretty convinced, though not an expert, that it’s the latter that causes a lot of stress and discord in many marriages. It doesn’t have to be Dave Ramsey, but Steve and I are firm believers that there has to be some foundation that will keep you from arguments (or worse) about money that shouldn’t happen.

Most people have debt, but what they don’t know they have is the ability to change their circumstances – No matter what. Yes I said no matter what. No, I probably can’t back that up as strong as you need, but Dave Ramsey can. This could be a ridiculously long post, and I’m probably not even fully qualified yet to be up on this soap box. HOWEVER! I have heard the facts, and I have seen it work fully in others’ lives, and continue to see it working in my own life.

Now let’s think about today’s current state. Not only do we, the general population, have to deal with paying bills, making money, etc. but we, the collective United States is facing some not so pretty times. People are losing jobs, are scared, are worried, and most of all unprepared.

If you get the channel, watch Dave’s show on the Fox business channel, or listen by way of radio, podcast, mp3. If you have 12 weeks or so to be exposed to something that will change your life and the life of your family for generations, find a Financial Peace University class and take it! If you think I’m a nut job and you have no clue what I’m talking about, at least watch this event coming up on April 23. Town Hall for Hope.

Tired of hearing the fear, doom and gloom that’s filling the airwaves? Join Dave Ramsey for a nationwide town hall meeting and discover what’s happening with the economy, how we got here, and where we’re going.

Dave will offer straight talk about the economy, recession, foreclosures and more. He’ll carefully explain where we’ve come from, where we are now, and what we should be doing with our money during this time. Then, Dave will spend an hour answering your questions live!

Frey Home

Today marks one year since we’ve become homeowners. We’ve worked hard over the past year to make this place our home, and have enjoyed sharing it with all of you who have visited…whether in person, or virtually! I don’t know that we will ever say “It is done.” but we’ve come to realize that the joy comes from each day and each experience.

This next year will bring more “improvements” with the biggest one being to our family. :) It’ll be interesting to see where we are this time next year. One thing’s for sure…we’re going to enjoy every minute getting there!

Say it ain’t “snow”…

Published by Maria under Is for fun...

Well in our case we’re EXCITED that they said snow. We just finished dinner, and were sitting by the fire when Steve got up and flicked on the back porch light. Our eyes both got big and the “quiet night at home” was no more! It must have been no more than 20 minutes that had gone by, and we already had more snow than the past two snowfalls combined!

So…what would any over-excited ex-Floridian do? Grab the  camera, run outside and play, and upload the videos to support our “guess what” phone calls to family in the Sunshine State!

Here ya go! It’s looking like we may have some more video and pictures in the morning too – only this time it won’t be a pathetic little dusting like our past recorded accounts. We’re in for the real thing here folks!

*A COUPLE OF HOURS LATER:
We weren’t the only crazy ones on the street. A few of the neighbors came over and we made a snowman in the front yard. (after the snowball fight of course)
