Passed the test

Published by Maria under Hobbies,Occasions

I never did like tests in school. Mostly because you had to study for them if you wanted to get any kind of decent grade. Well, I took several tests Wednesday and a Final Exam yesterday. Unlike school, this kind of “exam prep” has rewarded me with probably the most important mark of my life.

Yep. Steve and I are going to be parents! (of a human life) :)

According to the doctor and her paper wheel chart (which I swear can double as a Weight Watcher’s Point Counter) we’ll be adding a new member to our family around July 13, 2009.

So I suppose this could be an update to some of the things that Steve and I have experienced in 2 years of marriage: we got pregnant.

Since there aren’t really any exciting pictures yet to post relating to this event (although I did take about a hundred pictures of the “test results”) I’ll post some from our hike this past weekend. We took Ruthie to Crowder’s Mountain State Park. It was a gorgeous day. You could see the Blue Ridge Mountains off to the west, and the Charlotte skyline off to the east. Knowing what I know now, I probably would have been a lot more concerned that Ruthie drug me down the mountain on my butt. :)

The Importance of November 4th…

Published by Maria under Occasions

First let me say that this has nothing to do with politics…although as of November 4th, we now know who will be the next president.

November 4th is also the birthday of my grandmother. She turned 84 this year and informed the family “not to expect her to die any time soon…she’s living to 103″ – I hope she underestimated that number.

So the most important significance of this day (Nov. 4) to Steve and I, is that it is in fact our wedding anniversary. 2 years of wedded bliss have gone by…and sadly…I forgot to post about it.

Steve was in Asheville, NC at a work seminar all week, so we didn’t get to spend the day together. So perhaps this year, we’ll make Saturday, November 8th the honorary anniversary day. We plan to possibly make it over to Crowder’s Mountain State Park to get a hike in, and then we’ll be headed to P.F. Chang’s for dinner and 2 desserts. (maybe more if Steve wants one) :)

In this 2nd year of marriage we’ve:

  • bought a new house
  • renovated said new house
  • adopted a puppy
  • hosted countless family and friends
  • visited Asheville, Mt. Airy, High Point, Raleigh/Durham, Blowing Rock, Mt. Mitchell, Chimney Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Black Mountain, Del-Mar-Va, etc…(we’ve done some tooling around)
  • become an aunt and uncle
  • snuck into the Dean Smith Center (shhhhh)
  • played in 2 inches of snow at 2am (you would too if you lived in Florida most your life!)
  • had lots of laughs
  • …and a whole lot more…

To my husband of 2 years and 3 days: I love you. I couldn’t imagine living, arguing, laughing, and crying with anyone else. There is no bad. Only moments that make the good- gooder. You motivate me, make me feel strong, comfort me, and make me shake my head…sometimes b/c I can’t believe what a goof-ball you are, and the others because I can’t believe how lucky I am. Happy #2.

—-LOL!!! I just re-read that. Happy poop! hahahaha For the rest of you out there…that’s a sample of what it’s like to be us!
