They said it could happen, but we didn’t expect it so soon! Weatherman called for snow, and he was actually right! Lucky for me, I’ve always gotta get up in the middle of the night…so last night I thought I’d peek outside the window too. At 2 a.m. when your eyes don’t function right yet, it’s hard to notice if what you’re looking at out the window down below is dead grass or could it actually be a light covering.
As any long-time Floridian would do, I went downstairs and walked outside in my pajamas and to my excitement…I was standing in SNOW!
After I played in it some (yes, still in my sleep attire) and took some pictures, I went up and woke Steve. Take a look at some of the photos we took at 2 a.m. and then again this morning. I suspect that by lunch, our white blanket will be gone since it’s turned from snow to rain, and it’s warmed up a bit…it’s 35 degrees.
We are pretty excited – even if it doesn’t last long. Click here to view some pictures of our friend “Snow”

This weekend we headed up to Black Mountain and then over to the Blue Ridge Parkway with our friends Susan and Jeff. It was nice to get over to see some of the reason why we chose this state. While walking around the Black Mountain village area we came across this bronze sign on the wall. Not only was it funny to read, but it’s a reminder to stop and appreciate every moment….even the ones that seem insignificant.
We also wanted to show a picture of us and our friends hanging out on the Blue Ridge Parkway…all five of us: Steve, Me, Jeff, Susan, and “Baby John Cougar Plueger” haha

While we were in Florida for Christmas, we got a chance to head over to Kennedy Space Center for a day. Right now the Space Shuttle Atlantis is patiently waiting on Launch Pad 39A. We took NASA’s “Up Close and Personal” bus tour to get as close as we could to the vehicle. We also were able to get a picture of Launch Pad 39B, the only other place a shuttle is launched from.
Here’s a few pictures – click on them for a larger view:
